National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on October 25th In Eastern Idaho | Drop Off Unused Medications and Help Prevent Misuse

Eastern Idaho – On Saturday, October 25th, Eastern Idaho Public Health (EIPH) is partnering with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) as well as state and local partners within Eastern Idaho to hold the 29th National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Locally, Eastern Idaho Public Health, Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office, Idaho Falls Police Department, Idaho State Police, Madison County Sheriff’s Office, Rexburg Police Department, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, St. Anthony Police Department, Custer County Sheriff’s Office, and Eastern Idaho Medical Reserves Corps are hosting six (6) Take Back Day collection site events within Eastern Idaho on Saturday, October 25th.

 

Challis Location:

  • Custer County Sheriff’s Office: 130 South 9th Street Challis, ID 83226
    • Hours: 10am to 1pm

Idaho Falls Location:

  • College of Eastern Idaho: 1600 South 25th East Idaho Falls, ID 83404
    • Hours: 10am to 1pm

Rigby Location:

  • Broulim’s Fresh Foods: 150 N. State Street Rigby, ID 83442
    • Hours: 10am to 2pm

Rexburg Locations:

  • Madison County DMV: 510 North 2nd E, Rexburg, ID 83440
    • Hours: 10am to 2pm
  • Rexburg Walmart: 1450 N. 2nd E, Rexburg, ID 83440
    • Hours: 10am to 2pm

St. Anthony Location:

  • Anthony City Building: 420 N Bridge St, St. Anthony, ID 83445
    • Hours: 10am to 2pm

Community members attending these events will receive a packet of educational materials and donuts (courtesy of Sam’s Club) while supplies last.

When left in a medicine cabinet, thrown away, or flushed, unused prescriptions can be dangerous to people, animals, and the environment. Help keep our community safe and healthy by dropping off your old medications on Saturday, October 25th.

These events will allow community members to safely and securely dispose of any unused, unwanted, or expired prescriptions and help prevent drug misuse in our state. All prescription drugs will be accepted, as well as over-the-counter and veterinary medications. Take Back Day collection sites will also accept vape pens, cartridges, or other e-cigarette devices (without the batteries in the device). Needles will not be accepted.

This past April 2025 Drug Take Back Day, local law enforcement agencies in partnership with Eastern Idaho Public Health collected over 675 pounds of unused and expired medications in Eastern Idaho. Statewide, a total of 3,812 pounds of unused and expired medications were collected.1
