Freedom From Smoking from the American Lung Association
This program is for tobacco users who are ready to quit. Because most people already know that smoking is bad for their health, this program focuses almost exclusively on how to quit, not why to quit.
This program is designed to help tobacco users gain control over their behaviors and break their addiction.
Studies have shown that people who participate in Freedom From Smoking:
- Experience both immediate and long-term health benefits.
- Learn to address and overcome physical, mental and social aspects of their addiction.
- Are six times more likely to be smokefree one year later than those who quit on their own.
- When used in combination with smoking cessation medications, up to 60% of Freedom From Smoking participants report having quit smoking by the end of the program.
N-O-T: Not on Tobacco from the American Lung Association
N-O-T helps teens quit by addressing total health in order to develop and maintain positive behaviors. Participants will learn to identify their reasons for smoking or vaping, health alternatives to tobacco use and finding people who will support them in their efforts to quit.
N-O-T is an evidence-based program with approximately 90% of teens who participate in the program cutting back or quitting tobacco all together. Post program, Not On Tobacco program youth also have been shown to have better grades, higher motivation, fewer absences, better relationships with teachers and fewer school tobacco use policy violations.
