Eastern Idaho Public Health Releases Two Different Opioid Subgrants for the Eastern Idaho Community
Monday June 15, 2026Idaho Falls, ID - Eastern Idaho Public Health is excited to announce the opportunity to provide two different subgrants to organizations working to combat the opioid crisis in Eastern Idaho. Eastern Idaho Public Health’s vision focuses on healthy people in healthy communities with a mission to prevent disease, disability and premature death, promote healthy lifestyles; and protect and promote the health and quality of our environment.
The two different subgrant opportunities are as follows:
- Fiscal Year 2027 EIPH Opioid Settlement Subgrant
- Fiscal Year 2027 EIPH Rides to Recovery Subgrant
Both subgrants are supported by opioid settlements from drugmakers, with major pharmaceutical distributors will provide funding for treatment, recovery, and prevention in Idaho.
The FY27 EIPH Opioid Settlement Subgrant:
- EIPH aims to award a total of $70,000 in subgrants to organizations working to combat the opioid crisis in the following Idaho counties: Bonneville, Clark, Custer, Fremont, Jefferson, Lemhi, Madison, and Teton. Although the application is open to all organizations within Region 7 working to combat the opioid crisis, priority will be given to non-profit organizations, local governments, first responders, schools, and healthcare providers.
- Activities eligible for subgrant funding must align with the approved opioid abatement strategies found on the Office of the Attorney General for the State of Idaho’s website.
- Applications open June 15, 2026 and close June 30, 2026 at 11:59pm MT.
- The FY27 EIPH opioid settlement subgrant application can be found on Eastern Idaho Public Health’s website.
The FY27 EIPH Rides to Recovery Subgrant:
- EIPH is excited to continue our partnership with Greater Idaho Falls Transit (GIFT) to provide transportation (through sponsored rides) to and from treatment and recovery programs/services for persons with an Opioid Use Disorder and other co-occurring substance use disorders/mental health conditions within Idaho Falls titled Rides to Recovery (R2R). Transportation plays a crucial role in substance misuse treatment and recovery program participation. Reliable transportation influences an individual’s ability to attend recovery meetings, treatment sessions, and other important parts of their recovery process.
- Last year, EIPH piloted the Rides to Recovery program with GIFT. From May 2025 to April 2026, the Rides to Recovery program provided rides to 15,282 GIFT passengers during the program period. *Passengers equal the total number of riders and are not individual unique passengers.
- This year, agencies and organizations wishing to participate in the Rides to Recovery program in Fiscal Year 2027 (July 2026 - June 2027) must complete an application to be considered for the R2R program. Agencies and organizations need to primarily serve individuals with an Opioid Use Disorder and other co-occurring substance use disorders/mental health conditions to be considered.
- Applications open June 12, 2026 and close June 22, 2026 at 11:59pm MT.
